Having spent the last few weeks in the hot Caribbean sun, I am heading home.....a little reluctantly as i have been having a ball hanging out with my brother and my nieces, plus soaking up the sun.

Jamaica is one of the coolest laid back country that I have been to in recent years, the people are friendly and the vibe is very chilled, not to mention , the food is AMAZING !

Packed with culture and glorious sights, it is a must see place to  visit.

Travelling around Jamaica

Hey there all,

With a few more days to go on my trip. I decided to head up to the north coast for a few days.

Firstly let me tell you unless you are a "daredevil", using the local transportation is not recommended.

It's all about speed with these drivers, as time is money, so they drive like a bat out of he'll and take risks that an average driver wouldn't take.

I am a daredevil chick, however due to the fact that many people would be upset if I was to leave this world right now, I decided to take a more sedate form of travel.

Jamaica has a service called the "Knutsford Express" a bit like the National Express coach service, it's is suppose to be an executive travel service, however as you will learn if you ever travel here - their definition of executive and luxury travel will differ from your definition dramatically.

In all fairness I was comfortable and it was like a National express coach, and the driver was extremely competent and I arrived safely in one piece, so I am grateful :)

The journey took longer than expected - but I prefer to arrive safely rather than not at all.

The service runs between new Kingston, Ochi Rios, Montego Bay and back again, it's a must experience as you travel between the locations, you see Jamaica at it's best with views that are outstanding.

Exercising with Diabetes

Hello all,

So , as most of you know I suffer from type 2 diabetes, now that is no excuse for me not to exercise, in fact consistent, moderate exercise is one of the most important and effective weapons you can use to help manage your diabetes and your weight.

However as with any ailments, it must be monitored and the correct precautions taken, so with that in mind, here is a check-list that you can use if you are a diabetic sufferer.

Talk to your doctor about the right exercises for you, and begin gradually with a few minutes of exercise at a time when you're just starting out.

·  Always check your blood sugar level before and after exercising.
·  Always wear diabetes identification. People with diabetes should wear a comfortable necklace or bracelet that states they have diabetes (in case of emergency).
·  Check your feet for blisters or sores before and after exercising.
·  Wear proper shoes and socks.
·  Warm up before each exercise session, and cool down and stretch afterwards. This will aid in your comfort and also decrease your risk of injury or complications.
·  Drink plenty of fluids before, during, and after exercising. Dehydration can affect your blood glucose levels.
·  Bring a fast-acting carbohydrate snack in case you experience symptoms of hypoglycemia. Juice, hard candy and glucose tablets are a few examples.
·  Report any recurring, exercise-related pain in your legs or extremities to your doctor right away.

Happy Exercising !

A Woman in Jamaica.....

Hello all,

Ok so this one is going out to the ladies.......Guys I know that some of you might appreciate this .

What the hell is wrong with these girls and the way they are dressing out here.....seriously.... they have no class!!!

Don't get me wrong, even the girls heading to the office in the business district wears practically come to bed attire.... I am serious!

And when you head to the lower end of Jamaica.... oh my they let it all hang out!!!!

They don't leave nothing to the imagination, they have no independence, every bit  of clothing that they wear a man has brought.

They still live in the dark ages ... back in the "boops" days for all those that can remember- those were the days when you boops a man to get what you wanted, be it hair done, nails done, clothes , food, taxi, you name it and he would pay for it....

Unfortunately these girls here have yet to evolve from that mentality.

I am unsure if Jamaica is ready for all my sexy independent girls to come here for a visit..... but I can see the potential of the fun we could have :)

Blackberrys Take over !!!

People,

I am in semi -  techno heaven..

Blackberry has infiltrated Jamaica .... and I mean everyone even the man cleaning the streets is rocking a blackberry cellphone.

Now don't be mistaken they don't all have the blackberry package, some just have the phone for show and they will rob you in the lower class areas of Jamaica just to get your Blackberry.

The fact that Jamaica is moving with the times make this all very exciting as during my last visit ( 2005)  when I arrived with my Blackberry I was told that it would never take off in Jamaica..... wow was that dude ever wrong?

To go a little deeper, they have something that the UK has tried, but haven't yet mastered.

They have dual chip phones that looks like a white blackberry.......oh yes !!!

Its amazing, it takes 2 sim cards and has all the features of a Blackberry except no Blackberry Messenger.... hmmm.... yes I trying to find a way to bring one home with me :)

Jamaica Nice .....

Hey Y'all,

So I am in Jam down,Paradise, Caribbean, - Jamaica - whatever you wish to call it, I am on the 3rd largest island in the Caribbean working and chilling with my brother.

My last trip here was in 2005 and I can honestly say that Jamaica has evolved , it has changed , I am working in  the business district of New Kingston , where you will find huge International companies such as IBM , HP to name a few. A full working culture, but the difference is - you are in the sunshine in Jamaica where your home  maybe 5 minutes from your office.

Gone is the stigma that you are no longer safe in Kingston, as in anywhere in the world there is an element of risk for your safety when you travel to a foreign country and therefore as a visitor you need to take due care and attention as you would back home.

I  happily walk the street at 11pm at night and feel quite safe in the area that I  am. However  I  am sure as I  have been warned by my brother that it doesn't apply to all of Jamaica.

I will be keeping you all updated on the changes that I  have observed , as I am half way through my trip .

Matrix & Terminator

Hey there peeps

I came across this story  earlier this week.

It dates back to 2009, but I wanted to share it as I am sure not many people are aware as it wasn't  highlighted as much.....

Original creator of Matrix & Terminator Wins $2.5 Billion in Lawsuit

After a six year dispute, prolific writer and profound spiritualist, Sophia Stewart has received justice for copyright infringement and racketeering and will finally recover damages from the films, The Matrix I, II and III, as well as The Terminator and its sequels. Yes, you heard that correctly – the entire Matrix & Terminator franchises, and her suspected pay off is expected to be the highest in history – an estimated 2.5 billion.
Her case is a true landmark, and far too uncommon as countless creatives are exploited by the snake-like dealings of the movie industry. Here’s a recap of her triumphant journey by way of George2.0:
“Stewart filed her case in 1999, after viewing the Matrix, which she felt had been based on her manuscript, ‘The Third Eye,’ copyrighted in 1981. In the mid-eighties Stewart had submitted her manuscript to an ad placed by the Wachowski Brothers, requesting new sci-fi works.
According to court documentation, an FBI investigation discovered that more than thirty minutes had been edited from the original film, in an attempt to avoid penalties for copyright infringement. The investigation also stated that ‘credible witnesses employed at Warner Brothers came forward, claiming that the executives and lawyers had full knowledge that the work in question did not belong to the Wachowski Brothers.’ These witnesses claimed to have seen Stewart’s original work and that it had been ‘often used during preparation of the motion pictures.’ The defendants tried, on several occasions, to have Stewart’s case dismissed, without success.
Stewart has confronted skepticism on all sides, much of which comes from Matrix fans, who are strangely loyal to the Wachowski Brothers. One on-line forum, entitled Matrix Explained has an entire section devoted to Stewart. Some who have researched her history and writings are open to her story.”
Although it’s long overdue, and buried in large part by the media machine, Stewart has finally received official credit (and hopefully financial settlement by 2009) for her prodigious contributions to both Hollywood, and the world for her ground breaking sagas, both the Matrix & Terminator franchises. Let us hope that this landmark ruling provides a measure of hope for other ripped off screenwriters seeking justice even if only by way of public recognition.
To echo her 2004 victorious press release:
‘The Matrix & Terminator movie franchises have made world history and have ultimately changed the way people view movies and how Hollywood does business, yet the real truth about the creator and creation of these films continue to elude the masses because the hidden secret of the matter is that these films were created and written by a Black woman…a Black woman named Sophia Stewart. But Hollywood does not want you to know this fact simply because it would change history. Also it would encourage our Black children to realize a dream and that is…nothing is impossible for them to achieve!’
We’d like to believe that the justice she received was not in name only, and she is able to reap the benefits of her enormous creative contributions.
Wow, one of the unsung heroes ......

In Loving Memory of ......

Dear all,

Its been a while since I have written on my blog and this was due to the passing of someone very close and dear to me, a person that I strive to be ,  a person whom I admired for their strength and their patience, a person that I believe to be very wise in their years in this world and who taught me a great deal and made me the person that I am today .

My Mum.......

I would like to thank all that has sent their support to me , it has been overwhelming and my apologies if I am only just acknowledging your thoughts at this time.

As you can appreciate this process has been very painful.

My mum was a patient, grounded, thoughtful, caring, religious, happy, funny individual, the list is endless as to how I can describe her.

I am a true testament of her values, as those are the values that has been instilled in me and I will endeavour to carry on her legacy.
Her beauty and infinite wisdom will  always be something that I will cherish and remember and in years to come these are a few of the attributes that I will hold very dear to me.

Her strength, determination and tenacity  will always be remembered and I hope that one day I can say that I have  lived my life in such a a way that she would be proud.

"Mum I will always love you !"
