Recessions Tips !
So as you all know my blogs are about my random thoughts, so there I was standing in my local supermarket at the checkout thinking " how much is this gonna cost me"
Well needless to say I wasn't surprised when I got the final bill as it was ridiculous for a few measly items in my trolley, the simple basic items has rocketed in price over the last few years.
This prompted me to look for ways to save money and below is what I found, some interesting facts LOL !
1. White vinegar
When it comes to multi-use products, white vinegar is king. Here are just some of the ways vinegar can be used:
· Make up a 25% vinegar/75% water mixture and use it to clean the windows.
· To remove limescale, wrap paper towel soaked in hot vinegar around the base of taps - leave for an hour - then remove and rinse. (This should not be done to plated fixings, as it will ruin the finish).
· Strong vinegar also makes a good natural spray-on weed killer.
2. Bicarbonate of soda
The queen to vinegar's king, bicarbonate of soda is another must-have household item. Here are some of its very many uses:
· Wash your hands with bicarbonate of soda instead of soap to remove stubborn smells like onions.
· Mix it with water and use it to dissolve really stubborn muck and grease.
· Freshen up everything from smelly shoes (sprinkle it in dry and leave overnight) to stinky dish cloths (add two tablespoons to water and soak overnight).
· Close relative soda water can also be used to get red wine out of carpets: Just pour it over the stain, then absorb with layers of paper towel. Repeat until the stain has disappeared!
3. Lemons
Lemon juice works particularly well as a natural bleaching agent and stain remover. For example:
· Whiten your nails by soaking them in a mix of water and lemon juice for five minutes.
· Leave half a lemon in your fridge to get rid of nasty whiffs.
· Mix lemon juice with salt to clean copper.
4. Bananas
Staying on the fruity theme - bananas have a couple of tricks up their sleeve as well. As well as making an excellent food for babies, peeled bananas can be wrapped in cling-film, frozen and then eaten a bit like ice cream!
On a non-edible note - you can also use banana skin to give brown leather footwear an extra shine: Just rub the inside of the banana skin over the shoe, then polish as usual (removing any rogue fruity bits!)- bet y'all didn't know that !
5. Oats
Oats are cheap to buy and enormously versatile - both inside and outside the kitchen. As well as being a cheap and healthy ingredient for muesli, crumble and many other recipes, oats can be used as part of homemade health and beauty treatments - like exfoliating scrub. And they can be also used as the stuffing for various non-edible homemade items: For example, fill a cotton bag with rolled oats and sew it shut. Heated in the microwave, it becomes a cosy hand or foot warmer. Just remember - do not heat it for more than a minute or two, and be certain the heat is evenly distributed before placing on your skin. Overheating the bag could result in serious burns.*
6. Teabags
Do you use teabags more than once? The humble teabag has more uses than you can shake a stick at. For example:
· Two teabags (lukewarm, not hot!) can be applies to refresh tired eyes.
· A few teabags dug into the soil around rose bushes will nourish them and encourage growth.
· Scratches in wooden furniture can be disguised by wiping them with a soft cloth dipped in freshly-made tea.
· A wet tea bag wiped over razor burn can help reduce the sting.
7. Aqueous cream
And finally... aqueous cream is a non-perfumed emollient cream which is perfect for moisturising dry skin on any part of the body.
It's available over the counter at pharmacies (which is probably why many people still don't know about it) and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than most of 'big brand' equivalent products.
Aqueous cream also can be used instead of soap - and as an alternative to shaving foam for both men and women.
And it's worth remembering that it's available on prescription. That means if you're entitled to free prescriptions, you'll be able to get it for nothing!
I know some of these tips worked as I tried some myself - so give them a go and holla back
Until da next tyme!

Raving Aftermath!!!
I am awake and alive at 9.30pm on a Sunday evening ready to start my day, as I was in recovering mode from partying to some old skool music till the early hours of the morning.
Over the last few weeks I have been singing the praises of TRACEY CAMPBELL!
Well she lived up and stepped up last night at the HALO!.... Part 2 was just as exceptional as the part 1.
I was with a group of people who remembered what raving was like back in the day, the age group ranged from as young as 18 to an endearing couple in their fifties... that looked so good, I wanna be like them when I get to their age.
The concept of "Live Rare Groove" is awesome and something that is needed on the music scene, lately my ear drums has been tested to the point of no return to what the music scene has to offer but what I can only described as howling ......
So it was refreshiung to get dressed up , hang with friends, listen to musicians that play/ sing music with such passion that it stirs the blood in your veins and you just have to move with the beat - and as you do; you realise that its not just you, but everyone else is reliving that vibe with you too :)
I will say it again, Tracey Campbell and her crew are here to stay they have hit on a niche in the market and will do well, I for one will look forward to their next one ( travel permitting )
This was just a snippet .... apology for the camera not being steady, but when Tracey started to sing a shiver ran through me ... and you know what!!! - she was just warning up .
The RARE GROOVE LIVE CREW I salute you, my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and from the feedback I received you made a lot of people happy last night.
The venue was packed, the vibe was nice and even though it ws hot, the people were PARTYING.
What made my night was " If this world were mine " was being sung and a young couple just held each other oblivious to a room full of people and just danced like they were in the world alone.......sweet!
That is what raving should be all about ........
Until da next tyme !

Raving with the times !
Ok so as usual, you know that your girl has to share her adventures with you.
Last night the Chicago Bulls were in town for the pre - season match against Utah Jazz, now as I couldn't get tickets( not a happy bunny I will have to re -evaluate my persuasive skills) for the game which the Bulls won, by 1 point !
I decided to head to the after party instead with my boy Celebry D - (long story as to how he got his name ) and rocking a sexy hat that my home girl hooked me up with, so I was looking sexy as hell :)
Well well well.........What can I say, it became apparent that I am so OVER the London raving scene and I mean that in the sense of Clubs in the West End...
It was tired!
It was the same old BS!
The same wannabes except they now had young recruits!
The same crap of people easing out of the wood work because the YANKS were in town!
One chick that I knew from the scene even told me as that as long as Americans came to town, she will be out ..... WTH and she was proud saying that too, this chick is smart, with a degree... ...go figure!
People get a life, I felt out of place, I felt old as the age group was decidedly not mine, my friend and I had a table.... as if you are heading to the West tables are a must and yes I am a snob with my next comment..... having been on the scene for such a long time I choose not to mix with the stand and gaze crew as I call them.
These are the people that head out looking all glam, can't pay their bills at home and when they reach the club, they have one drink for the night, and they circulate trying to find a sucker to buy them a drink... this is applicable to men and women , so I don't differentiate.
Celebry D and I caused a sensation due to the fact that we just looked "Different", part of that was that my name proceed me and even after being off the scene for such a while, people still wanted to be seen that they knew me apparently I am classed as COOL ...... .
Needless to say the queue was ridiculous ... and no I didn't queue it so not in my vocabulary; the girls wore practically next to nothing as it seems the less you have on the more you will attract the eye of an NBA payer.... so that is what I was doing wrong ... dayum !
The venue screamed full capacity even though the players hadn't arrived and there was no space left for them to be hosted amongst the flurry of tight strapless dresses , 4 inch heels, long weaves and overpowering scent ... ladies, it ain't sexy if its bulging !!!!
Celebry D and I left around 1am with the queues still outside... we felt bored, besides after drinking a few bottles of Cristal with strawberries, I was starving we we found a Chinese in China town and had catch some jokes with the staff :)
The Players arrived after I left and as usual there was drama one Bull player got punched in the face ...... nothing changes
This weekend I am heading to a more mature and sophisticated Rave where I KNOW I will be with the right mind set... good music, good vibes and hanging with my mad peeps - y'all don't need to deny it you know who you are, don't let me have to name ya !
See you at the Halo, 317 Battersea Park Road, London, SW11 4LT for Rare Groove Part II!
Until da next Tyme!

Facebook Thief !
Hope you had a great weekend,, I had to start the week off with this story as I found it halirious !
Thief who used Facebook during Robbery is Arrested.
A buglar who broke into a house in Italy has been arrested after thw police discovered he'd been using Facebook while carrying out the robbery.
Cops traced the thief, who has not been named , after officers noticed a computer had been left on in the house.
The homeowner from Albano Laziale near Rome told the police he didn't use the social networking site and they concluded the last person to use his PC must have been the burglar.
The thief , 26 had posted several comments on his wall, which made it easy for cops to track him down.
Investigator Major Ivo Di Blasio said " the owner of the house had left the computer on and when the facebook site flashed up on the screen, we had the name of the burglar, we simply went to his house and arrested him, as well as recovering the cash and jewellery."
Blasio added: "he did not expect us at all and was very surprised when we told him how we had tracked him down. He has a history of break-ins and will now go before a judge "
Wow , what can you say, the is FB business is SERIOUS ! LOOOL

Black History Month
But do we all know what it means ?
My Facebook and Twitter is alive with events that seems to be aimed at celebrating black history month, but is more about lining a promoters pocket with the pretence of doing something cultural and eductaional.
So lets educate!
Black History Month is a rememberance of important people and events in the history of the African dispora.
What does that mean to the ordinary Joe Bloggs - simply we celebrate our ancestors who struggled to make the current generation have the freedom that they didnt have.
This is celebrated around the world, February in the US and October in the UK !
I despair that if I ask a young black child ( this may not be PC but its a reality ) to tell me who was George Washington Carver, Frederick Douglass or worse who was Carter Goodwin Woodson, these are names that I wasnt taught in school, but as you crave information when you get older you research and absorb.
Should this be the role of the school or the parent to educate our children about their ancestory ???
What does the UK do to celebrate BHM in a big way?
Someone correct me if I am wrong and I am missing something here but it goes back to my original statement - lining promoters pocket under the pretence of BHM.
If this is to be edcuational and celebratory month ,then let the community come together and do a free , educational and inspiring event that will uplift the community and remind them of their ancestors and what they can do to continue improving our generations for years to come......
MOBOS 2009!
Hey y'all
So the social calendar for some people last night was the MOBOS 2009
Judging from Twitter and Facebook, people were glued to BBC3 to see what this year would bring!
Having worked with the MOBOS before, I am not into bashing the organisation as many people seem to be.
Its easy for people to criticise without having walked in that persons shoe.
However what I will offer is constructive thoughts.
I praise Kanya for making the bold move of taking the event to "Scottyland" an overdue business decision .
As far as I am aware there was no drama, it was spot the "black face" now while that may not be "PC" from a business point of view it was a good choice - the event was fresh for that part of the world so it was liking seeing the event with fresh eyes
The line up was predominantly UK and this is what the public has been demanding for so long, but last night they got it and tehy didnt represent at all .
The UK seem to aspire to be like the Americans and has been imitating this for years so that is why having US artist to validate what the show is about always seemed necessary in the past, but I don't feel is necessary.
I could list a million and one things that were wrong, but as with most events you expect hiccups but my pet peeve was:
PRODUCTION PRODUCTION! PRODUCTION, PRODUCTION - sorry did I stress it enough ????
This is something that was poor especially with it being televised - this should have been tighter people walking across the screen in the background whilst Keri Hilson was introducing guests/ acts .... Come on you have been doing this event for over 13 years it needs to be tighter!
If the benchmark is the US award shows then you are still missing the point, - the viewers at home doesn't need to see the "behind the scenes" unless that is the gimmick they need to see a slick, professional and entertaining show.
If you want a slick high end event; provide a wardrobe budget, I love Reg to bits but was lost as to his choice of wardrobe!
Well done to Keri, she did a great job and I am sure the men in the audience and viewers at home appreciated the wardrobes changes and choices.
Finally ( as I can sit here and list a world of things that could have been better - but I really have no time ) - the British demand a high level event that is likened to the US Award show, but if the talent that they have are strictly - dare I say it "ghetto" how then can you lay the blame at the event organisers feet?
I was amazed by the speech and general attitude of some of the artist, they didn't even make an effort, it was appalling, half the time they looked so scruffy - I didn't associate them with an award show I was watching, the rest of the time I didn't comprehend a word they were saying..... correct me if I am wrong wasn't this being televised to a multicultural society ?????
However as the saying goes, you can take a person out of the ghetto out .... but you cant take the ghetto out of the person.
Congratulations to all the winners , my girl Yolanda Brown!, she was one artist that made the effort :)
Overall this was better than previous years, but still not good enough, hopefully next year it will be just right !
