Air Travel

hey there peeps,

So it has finally happened!

BRITISH Airways is to charge passengers up to £60 each way to reserve their seats on flights.
The crisis-hit airline will launch the new "service" from October.

It allows passengers to book favourite seats up to 355 days in advance - instead of the current 24 hours.

But it also means a family of four will have to stump up to make sure they sit together.
The airline warned that passengers who turn up at airport check-in will face "the luck of the draw" for seats.

A BA spokesman said: "Many customers frequently request specific seats further in advance and this new service will allow them to do that. It will also generate revenue for BA."
On long haul flights it will cost £60 to reserve a seat in business class, or £50 for premium economy or exit row seats with extra leg-room.

Even for short-haul economy flights, passengers face a £10 surcharge.

BA is in a "fight for survival" after running up record losses of £401million in the last financial year.

The Sun revealed in July that BA was axing free food on thousands of short-haul flights to save cash.

Chief executive Willie Walsh also asked thousands of staff to work for free for a month.
Cabin crew have threatened to strike weeks before Christmas over new pay and conditions that unions fear will come in next month.

Hmm so let me get this straight, they lose money , their service is still cr*p and they want to charge us more the privilege of flying with them.

I have said many times before BA standard has deflated, they are no longer the best airline to travel with, I prefer Virgin, and that doesn't mean that they are the best either they just take a little more care.

Lets be real , all airlines are the same they are out to make money , however its the ones that makes us feel special with that little extra care that will get our business, right now BA has lost that battle.

Pretty soon other airlines will follow their lead in some shape or form, and when that happens, I will be the one sailing wherever I need to travel to, rather than flying..... it may take me a while to get there, but think of the pleasure that I could experience along the way..........
